With the opening of Trapeze, one of the newest gems in the Bartmann Group’s local restaurant family brings a bright, whimsical champagne bar to the Twin Cities. Nestled in the heart of Uptown, the new venue occupies the storefront next to Barbette, another Bartmann establishment, and shares the French brasserie’s kitchen.
Featuring butcher block tables, a hot pink mural by local artist Jennifer Davis, and a focus on snacks and sparkling sips, Barbette’s sister space has a personality and style all its own.
“It was time. We needed a champagne bar,” says owner Kim Bartmann. “There are a couple of others in the Cities highlighting champagne, but Trapeze is its own unique concept.”
The Trapeze wine menu features all things sparkling, from cava to prosecco, while food offerings are centered around light bites that pair well with bubbles, including toasts topped with rillettes, duck, pates and terrines.
With just 400 square feet, the intimate party space accommodates 20 guests seated (about 40 standing) and is perfectly suited for private dinners and parties, wedding showers, board meetings and more. Trapeze is available for full buyouts. barbette.com/trapeze
In addition to its newest party space, the Bartmann Group has opened additional new eateries and has added several new features to some of its more established venues, providing local planners with plenty of local options.
Red Stag Supperclub Club Room & Courtyard
Those familiar with the popular Northeast Minneapolis eatery might be surprised to learn that the space now features a private clubroom and courtyard available for private meeting, events, weddings and more. The clubroom and courtyard are tucked away from restaurant’s main dining room, providing groups with plenty of privacy. The Bartmann team can also transform the courtyard into a “hidden alleyway oasis,” says Janelle Flay, director of event sales and management. The clubroom and courtyard can accommodate 60-70 seated, and up to 100 standing. “We plan to add lawn games like Giant Jenga and ladders or bags as well. We really want to make the courtyard an interactive experience, which is something so many events miss out on,” says Flay. The clubroom and courtyard are an ideal fit for corporate events, intimate weddings and family-style celebrations.
The Red Stag also offers breakfast buyouts with full A/V capabilities for morning weekday events before the restaurant opens. “It’s a great alternative to a hotel out on Interstate 394, and of course, we think the food is a lot better,” says Bartmann. redstagsupperclub.com
Overlooking the Minneapolis landmark Loring Park, The Bird serves clean, farmerfocused dishes and fresh juices by day, and hosts unique festivities by night. The Bird’s bohemian space is available for evening buyouts each night after 4 p.m. The venue can accommodate 120 guests for full seated events and 150 guests for float-through receptions with access to one of its most popular features, a charming and secluded European-style brick alleyway. The Bird also features a unique lofted “crow’s nest” space, perfect for daytime or board meetings. “The ‘crow’s nest’ is perfect for small corporate group meetings because it’s not a box. It’s full of light and you’re part of the unique bustle down below. It’s the perfect space for a group around 12 guests,” says Flay. Bryant Lake Bowl
The Bartmann Group’s vintage bowling alley, restaurant and 90-seat cabaret theater are available for full buyouts. The venue remains a local favorite for office bowling parties, company meetings and corporate events. Located in the Armatage neighborhood, Book Club is one of the Bartmann Group’s newest offerings. The new concept, housed in the former Cafe Maude restaurant, features contemporary décor and a California fusion menu with dishes such as wood-fired Balinese chicken and green curry mussels.
