The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) hosted its third annual Partners in Tourism Community Giving Event on Dec. 10, 2015. The event received 1,000 pounds of nonperishable food for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Event organizers calculated the amount of food collected from the bureau and their 70 participating tourism partners would produce 800 meals for needy families in Central PA. This year’s event was held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.

Held Oct. 13, 2017, at the Museum of the American Revolution, Taste America was a four-course plated dinner held to benefit the James Beard Foundation. The event, planned by Cashman & Associates, welcomed 300 attendees who dined on food provided by Brûlée Catering in collaboration with other culinary stars.

At Hilton Minneapolis this past November, the NACE Minneapolis/ St. Paul Chapter held its educational conference entitled Minnesota Made: Midwest Moments of Wow. The aesthetic featured plenty of plaid, as the theme was “luxury lumberjack.”

On Jan. 30, Meetings Professionals International Southern California Chapter held its 2018 “State of the Industry” luncheon at the Pasadena Convention Center. Amanda Armstrong, CMP, incoming chair of the MPI International Board of Directors, was the keynote speaker. In her address, she encouraged MPI members to volunteer. “Find something you’re passionate about and raise your hand. Volunteering is a great way to try out new skills. Don’t be afraid to be a rookie.”
