Tired of the same meeting routine? Looking for something new, something active, something inspirational? Look no further than the Oregon Coast. Meeting planners, including the conference and events company Meet Green, have shared that their most productive meetings have taken place at the beach. Here’s five reasons why that’s true.

1. Clean, Fresh Air. How many times have you found yourself yawning, nodding off or unable to concentrate when in a workshop where there are no windows, stale air and no place to step out and clear your head? All that changes at the Oregon Coast. Fresh ocean air, scenic views outside your window, and a sandy beach are all just steps away from a Power Point presentation. A natural setting provides the opportunity to clear the mind and get creative energy flowing. You’ll be inspired.

2. Better Team Building Activities. Sure, you can stay indoors for Monte Carlo night and play roulette with funny money. But how about this instead? Take a hike to the headland of Cape Lookout and watch for whales. Ride the rails in recumbent bikes that pedal along train tracks. Go kayaking together and discover life thriving in the estuaries. Go on a brewery tour. Or, just throw a few blankets on the sand and let the surf provide background music during a discussion on business strategy.

3. Fresh Seafood. In the wee hours of the morning, while you’re drinking cups of coffee to prep for the meeting, local fishers have already been out to sea and bay catching your night’s dinner. So, what’s for dinner? Brain food. How about fresh halibut, tuna, rockfish, salmon, Dungeness crab, oysters, and clams? When the fresh seafood is accompanied by award-winning beer and wine, locally grown produce, famous cheese, and luscious ice cream, it beats lukewarm chicken any day.

4. Lodging with Character. After a few conferences, notice how the hotels seem to blend together? Not at the coast. Book your staff into an Airstream® hotel steps from the beach, an inn with where every room overlooks the ocean, a hotel steps from a marina and historic Coast Guard pier, or a tiny home village steps from a bay and nature preserve, and with its own disc golf course. Camp out in covered wagons circled around a campfire and chuck wagon meals, or how about a large executive home with gorgeous views of the coastline? You’ll feel more like a native and less like a hotel booking number.

5. Giving Back. The Oregon Coast needs you. Organize a beach cleanup. Donate high-protein meals to the local food bank. Pitch in on a Habitat for Humanity project. There are many worthy organizations who will benefit from your company’s enthusiasm and commitment to the environment, people in need, sustainability or any number of community service projects.
