The Magnolia Hotel Houston recently completed a renovation of most of the hotel’s public spaces. The first phase of the multi-million-dollar project included the lobby, the second floor meeting space and restaurant, third floor meeting space and public restrooms and the 23rd floor fitness center and outdoor rooftop pool deck. The historic landmark building was erected in 1926 as the home of the Houston Post-Dispatch and later served as the home of Shell Oil. The hotel which opened in 2003, is one of six boutique Magnolia Hotels properties throughout the country and is partnered with Starwood Hotels.

"The renovations embrace our historic building's roots from when it was built in 1926. Once the Houston Post-Dispatch building, the tallest skyscraper at the time, subtle touch points hint at the printing history. Moments are revealed in the typewriter keys hidden in the lobby, inkwell artwork behind the front desk and our new palette of blackened metal, caramel and steel blue. Travelers seeking approachable luxury will be immersed in creative nuances in all public spaces coupled with our associate’s genuine Texas hospitality," says Sarah Treadway, president and Co-CEO of Magnolia Hotels. Work on the public space phase of the renovation was completed in December 2017. Hotel officials said plans to finalize a model room were scheduled for this February with a complete renovation of the hotel’s 314 rooms and 23 corridors slated to begin Summer 2018.

The Magnolia Hotel Houston features eight event rooms and more than 16,000 square feet of space. The first floor 2,200-square-foot Sterling Ballroom can accommodate up to 200 people. The Magnolia Lounge—the hotel’s dinning facility—is found on the second level and can hold up to 200 guests for private events. A suspended grand stairway connects the lounge with the conference center for additional meeting rooms and breakout space. The Magnolia Ballroom located in the third floor Executive Conference Center features 2,880 square feet of space which provides room for groups of up to 330.

Located at 1100 Texas Avenue, the Magnolia Hotel is in the heart of downtown Houston surrounded by abundant shopping and dinning options, several parks as well as entertainment venues like Minute Maid Ballpark, The Toyota Center, The Hobby Center for Performing Arts and the George R. Brown Convention Center. The hotel is just under three blocks from Preston METROrail stop, 12 miles from the William P. Hobby Airport and 20 miles from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
