Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt is now incorporating fun musical features into its meetings. Programs for groups include “Soundtracked,” which has a playlist customized by the music and social programming director for a group’s meeting space and “Anthem” where groups create a new company theme song with percussion instruments.
Planners can also take part in “Off the Record” to work with the music and social programming director to scout, book and contract entertainment for your meeting or event and “The Festival-ization of Meetings” to transform the entire first floor to a music festival experience with each room featuring a different artist.
“We like to customize each experience based on the specific needs of the group,” saysHannah Hagar, director of music and social programming at Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt. “What’s the overall vibe they’re looking to achieve? What experience are they looking to create and what do they want their attendees to take away from the experience?”
Austin is renowned for its music festivals such as South by South West, Austin City Limits and it has featured legendary artists like Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kathie Valentine, Willie Nelson, Spoon and many more. Music culture runs throughout the décor and aura of the 319-room hotel. Van Zandt was even voted top hotel in Texas two years running by Conde Nast Traveler Readers.
“Music is deeply embedded into so much of Hotel Van Zandt from the trumpet chandeliers in the lobby, to our live music venue at Geraldine’s, to our namesake – Townes Van Zandt,” says Hagar. “Austin being the music capitol of the world, there is a strong culture at the Van Zandt to cultivate and support the eclectic creative community.”
Hotel Van Zandt can host a group from five to 600 people in its 25,000 square feet of meeting space. The Ladybird Ballroom is its largest ballroom and can host up to 600 for a reception.
