Detroit and Grand Rapids are showcasing some fun new dining options this spring for all occasions.

In Motown, the Metro Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau released its third in-your-face YouTube video exploring the city’s vibrant dining scene.

Three Eats in The D videos were posted this spring and run about four to eight minutes long. They feature sports bars, fancy hotspots, trendy stops and pizza traditions. Each YouTube page offers a list of all the eateries featured in each show.

Eats in The D episodes are narrated by an effervescent Noni, and are companion videos to the CVB's online restaurant guide, a more comprehensive look at the Motor City’s food scene.

In Grand Rapids, voted Beer Town USA in national polls and named Best Beer Town by the readers of USA Today, the riverfront JW Marriott is changing the look and menu at its signature restaurant. six.one.six debuted in April 2018 as a casual French bistro, offering a new menu that blends traditional French favorites and contemporary, local favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner under the direction of new Chef Alessandro Guerrazzi.

Breakfast staples include fresh baked pastries, charcuterie and cheese boards. Signature lunch and dinner dishes include tarte flambée, onion soup gratinée, filet mignon au poivre, coq au vin and pear clafoutis. French-inspired touches include baguettes baked fresh daily, house-made pasta and rotisserie chicken on display in an open kitchen.

A complete interior refresh of the restaurant is scheduled for completion by year-end 2020.

“As one of the first farm-to-table restaurants in Grand Rapids, six.one.six has been a market leader in culinary trends since opening in 2007,” says Todd Webb, executive chef at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. “We’re excited for guests to experience the next phase of the restaurant’s evolution as an approachable French bistro.”

Webb reports that dishes previously available at six.one.six, such as the flatbreads, tuna roll and burger, have been rotated to menus at Mixology Lounge and the jdek, the hotel’s waterfront patio and bar.

JW Marriott Nashville recently announced an exclusive partnership with American bootmaker Lucchese. The hotel, which is scheduled to open in July, says the partnership will give guests the opportunity to explore Music City in luxurious style.

"Partnering with JW Marriott Nashville is a natural way to immerse visitors into the spirit of the city," says Lucchese President Doug Kindy.


Luxury guest ranch C Lazy U Ranch recently won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for the third year in a row and simultaneously announced the appointment of Certified Level II Sommelier Elise Blann. Blann will work closely with Executive Chef Dennis Kaniger at C Lazy U to select the perfect wine for each meal. The dining program specializes in regional ranch cuisine, such as Rocky mountain trout, rosemary rack of lamb and aged western beef.


Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center recently announced the addition of Director of Food & Beverage Saddiq Mir and Executive Chef Fabian Ludwig to its culinary team. The resort destination is set to open in late 2018 and will feature a wide variety of F&B options, including a steakhouse, a sports grill, a sushi bar, a cocktail lounge and multiple coffee and quick bite spots.
