  • Vancouver Convention Centre Recognized for its Sustainability Efforts

    FROM THE Spring 2017 ISSUE

The Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) have awarded its Level 4 certification—the highest possible accreditation—to the Vancouver Convention Centre. Venues that demonstrate high standards for environmentally sustainable meetings, trade shows and conferences are awarded Level 4 certification. Vancouver Convention Centre’s commitment to environmental sustainability helped it become the first facility in Canada to receive this level of certification.

“We are proud to obtain the Level 4, Meeting Venue standards by APEX/ ASTM. Pursuing this globally recognized certification is another demonstration of our commitment to operating in the most environmentally responsible way,” says Craig Lehto, general manager of the center. “It was a rigorous and rewarding effort that required us to examine our business, operational and social practices—from communications, staff management, waste management, energy, air quality, water, procurement and community partners— with an environmental lens.”

The Vancouver Convention Centre has 466,500 square feet of flexible meeting, exhibition, ballroom and plenary space. vancouverconventioncentre.com
