The City of Arlington has had several reimaginations over the years. It was a frontier outpost and the site of the historic Battle of Village Creek. Thanks to its rich soil fed by the waters of Trinity River and its proximity to the Texas and Pacific Railway, it was an agricultural center and market town for neighboring farms. And, most surprising of all, it was once the largest gambling destination in the country, drawing the famous and infamous, including Clark Gable, Mae West, Al Capone, and Bonnie and Clyde.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role the Chief Operating Officer of Arlington CVB?
Q Hotels has announced plans to develop a dual-branded Marriott hotel property in south Arlington, Tex. Construction is set to start this December and will finish in summer 2018. The combined SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites will have a total of 230 rooms.
Amenities include an event lawn entertainment space, a ballroom, an expanded fitness area, steam room, dry sauna and restaurant dedicated to healthy eating. The hotel is located 8 miles away from the DFW Airport and 3 miles south of the Arlington entertainment area.
Believe it or not, the holidays are coming, and that means the season for giving is right around the corner. Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Va., managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, is donating up to $250 to a charity in the name of each meeting planner who books an event.
The hotel has been giving back to charities both locally and nationally for years, working with foundations such as Wreaths Across America, Wounded Warriors, Toys for Tots and many more.
Almost 14 million visitors spent an estimated $1.4 billion last year in Arlington, Texas, according to a study conducted by Longwoods International. This study was prepared for the Arlington Convention & Visitor’s Bureau with a mission to provide an overview of Arlington’s tourism business in 2015. It included information about overnight and day visitors, how much visitors were spending and other relevant trends.
