Austin-based Chuy’s is opening their first Colorado location in Denver this June. The Tex-Mex joint will be located at 6595 W. 104th Ave. in Westminster. Chuy’s was founded in Austin back in 1982 and offers diners homemade Tex-Mex in a quirky environment.
Their most popular dishes include: stuffed chile rellenos, chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas and creamy jalapeno.
Austin’s Dulce Vida Tequilas has added 70-proof lime tequila and grapefruit options to its retail mix. The fruit-infusions join a new 80-proof portfolio that has been added to the company’s organic blue agave Los Altos tequila. “These cocktail-ready, category disrupters are providing healthier cocktail solutions,” says Eric Dopkins, founder and CEO of Milestone Brands, parent company of Dulce Vida Tequilas.
Earlier this month, The Professional Convention Management Association hosted their 2017 Convening Leaders Conference in Austin, Jan. 9–11.
“We are thrilled to host convening leaders for the first time in Austin,” says Tom Noonan, president and CEO , Austin CVB. “Austin has become a premier destination for meeting, conventions and leisure business and we are confident that we will see return business from the PCMA attendees.”
The conference attracted about 4,500 attendees and is estimated to bring in around $11 million in economic return.
The Austin Conventions and Visitor’s Bureau and the Professional Convention Management Association hosted an event to support Sammy’s House, a nonprofit organization that helps children with medical or developmental issues.
The event—Hospitality Helping Hands—sold 150 volunteer spots. During it, volunteers worked on projects like playground repair, yard maintenance, toy sorting, cleaning classrooms and more to improve the facilities of the daycare.
There are few things more exciting for a motorcycle enthusiast than winning a new Harley-Davidson, especially when Bill Davidson—former senior vice president and chief styling officer of the infamous motorcycle compny— is the one handing over the keys. Such was the case for one lucky raffle winner at the annual convention of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) in Austin.
There are many ways to bring a team together, but few that offer the beauty of birdwatching. Beaumont, in particular, is a popular area for groups to go birdwatching and the Beaumont CVB can expertly line-up options. Victor Emanuel Nature Tours (VENT), for example, is a 40-year-old company based in Austin that operates more than 150 birding and natural history tours in Beaumont and other Texas locations, as well as all over the world. More than 350 bird species are spotted in and around Beaumont each year, many of them by corporate groups on team-building outings.

Encompassing 2,100 square feet, the flexible, multiuse space is a day-to-night concept with a coffee bar occupying an airy, sunlit space, and Jettison, a bar component offering a private retreat for cocktails and conversation.
The Red River Canopy Walk is constructing a $6 million elevated passage in Austin. This will be the only pedestrian bridge that connects the Austin Convention Center directly to a hotel. The passageway between Fairmont Austin and the center will help bring in many high-profile events.
