The Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau claimed several awards in the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Idea Fair at the organization’s annual conference in El Paso, Texas, this week.

“Our team continues to prove themselves year after year with award-winning initiatives, and this year is no different,” says Dean Conwell, CDME executive director for the Beaumont CVB. “With only three submissions, our team came home with six awards. To me, that speaks volumes about the level of talent we have here at home.”

The TACVB Idea Fair is held each year  as a part of the group’s annual conference, to help all Texas convention and visitors bureaus bring forth their best ideas and share them with colleagues. Projects are submitted into one of nine categories ranging from convention sales promotions to cooperative marketing initiatives. More than 250 destination marketing professionals and a team of judges vote for the winners. The ideas are judged based on originality, cost-saving strategies, visual appeal and implementation methods.

The Beaumont CVB won the People’s Choice for convention promotion, sports marketing and tourism promotion. They also took home the People’s Choice Overall in Tourism Promotion and Judges Choice awards for Convention Promotion & Sports Marketing.

Two sustainability happenings caught my attention recently, so I’ll provide a quick recap. SCS Global Services (SCS) has launched Zero Waste for Events certification, and IMEX America has released its 2021 Sustainable Event Report that recaps measures taken and sustainability successes at the biggest trade show in the United States for the global incentive travel, meetings, and events industry.
