The spa and fitness center moves north.

The Heartland Spa & Fitness Resort is now headed north. Originally opened in 1983 in Gilman, the spa has now relocated to Bella Vista Suites in the resort town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The boutique-style hotel focused on wellness retreats has 39 units, and each room has a private Jacuzzi for guests to enjoy. A short drive from Chicago, the Heartland Spa offers guest services that are centered on creating healthier lifestyles. With packages that include one-, two-, three-, five- and seven-night inclusive stays (or a oneday option with no room stay), options include fitness classes, deliciously healthy meals and relaxing spa treatments like Reiki and acupuncture. Guests can enjoy group classes and wellness experiences and learn from health experts in a beautiful and soothing environment.

One of the best things about the chill of winter is the warmth of a roaring fire. Northwest venues are particularly adept at creating spaces where guests can gather and collaborate around a stunning fireplace that is as much a work of art as it is a necessity. Here are some of our favorites.

To say Wisconsin is having a moment would be an understatement. A statewide renaissance resulting in plenty of new developments, impressive renovations and entrepreneurial ventures has been years in the making and shows no sign of slowing anytime soon.

The wildly popular Magnolia Brewery in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood has a new addition: Magnolia Hall, a 6,500-square-foot private event space
connected to the always-bustling brewery and taproom. Just a 10-minute walk from Oracle Stadium, where the Giants play, it’s perfect for a pre- or post-game function and for more formal events, too.
