The Broadmoor is welcoming a new 125,000-square-foot Exhibition Hall in spring 2020, an addition to the existing Broadmoor Hall, International Center and Colorado Hall to form “The Broadmoor Event Center.”  

The Broadmoor will be the only Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond awarded hotel in the country to operate a large on-site exhibition space. 

The addition comes in response to clients having limited space at the resort who expressed a need for more space to allow them to engage in the other amenities the property offers. More space allows The Broadmoor to host trade shows and larger events, which are traditionally hosted in cities that already have standalone convention centers.  

“Our hope is to book more tier three events like the Space Symposium,” says Krista Heinicke, The Broadmoor’s public relations manager. “We hope to provide flexible exhibit space for multi-day events in the off-season (late October to April).” 

The hall’s exterior will be designed in a modern Italian Renaissance style to match the rest of the resort, but inside it will be less formal. The space is designed to host trade shows, exhibits and new product launches.  

“The facility will also provide 32 breakout rooms, giving groups utilizing the space an opportunity to hold smaller sessions throughout their exhibition,” Heinicke says. “The rooms will be wired with built-in screens and the most modern technology.” 

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. Without the daily obligation to go into the office, professionals have the ability to travel more freely. Hotels across the country are creating “work from hotel” deals–a play on “work from home”–so people can explore new places while still fitting in their 9 to 5.  

 

Choosing a career in the event industry is not for the faint of heart. Let’s face it: Event planning is stressful. The last-minute changes, demands from clients and surmounting urgency of a quickly approaching event can make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
