A $16 million redesign has been announced at Stanford Court, a tech-centric hotel located atop the San Francisco landmark Nob Hill. With a slated completion of spring 2018, the renovation will touch everything from the hotel's lobby to their guest rooms, fitness center, meeting and event spaces and hotel amenities. The hotel will remain operational throughout the entirety of the project.
Centerpieces don’t get any more sustainable than the Garden-in-a-Can from the Oakland-based company Back to the Roots. The cans or mason jars of flowering basil, dill, sage and cilantro were used as table decorations at a San Francisco entrepreneur summit sponsored by Inc. Magazine, at a forum of the nonprofit Social Venture Network held in a San Diego hotel ballroom and, not coincidentally, at the wedding of the brother of the company’s co-founder Nikhil Arora.

The room, set for a gala, looks gorgeous: tables dressed in glittery linens, exotic fl oral centerpieces, chairs draped and sashed, multiple glasses sparkling like diamonds at every place setting.
It’s breathtaking, for sure. But if that room is located in California, there’s something very wrong with this picture.

The globally inspired cuisine at Hinoki & the Bird, in LA’s Century City neighborhood, is refined, eclectic and vibrant. That describes this cocktail, too. “We use seasonal fruits and herbs in our cocktails just like our culinary team does in the kitchen,” says General Manager Nick Moore. “The shiso leaves are uniquely herbaceous and are balanced by the kumquats’ sweet and tart flavors. The bourbon really rounds out the flavor profile nicely with warm notes of caramel.”
