Planners hosting at the Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown can add a memorable group hike to the meeting agenda

By Amanda Christensen

Located in downtown Los Angeles, California, just a few blocks from the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown, An IHG Hotel, pays homage to the glitz and glamour of the Golden Age through its interior design and offers 350 art deco-designed guest rooms and 21,000 square feet of function space. Most recently, it debuted a partnership with Bikes and Hikes LA to offer year-round group hikes to the iconic Hollywood Sign for those staying and gathering at the hotel.

“Taking advantage of the nearly 365 days of sunshine in Los Angeles, we established an ongoing partnership with the city’s premier guided tour company, Bikes and Hikes LA, to provide the option of seeing the iconic Hollywood Sign landmark while bringing people together for a fun team-building activity,” says Morgan Mardesich, director of sales and marketing for the hotel. The tour can accommodate up to 400 participants takes about 90 minutes to complete on average.

“Over the past few years, we have seen our meeting planners be more interested in getting off-property and having their attendees actually experience the city they’re in,” says Mardesich. “Incorporating a team activity into any meeting or event helps build bonds and improve communication, which leads to a much more productive meeting.” Bikes and Hikes LA offers an array of other tours that planners can book directly through its website, including biking and walking options to see notable city features including the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and top Hollywood film studios.

On-site, Hotel Indigo Los Angeles features 21,000 square feet of event space spanning nine rooms. Its third-floor Orpheum Ballroom can host up to 350 attendees and provides 16-foot ceilings. Its Palace meeting room has a capacity of 150 people and features retractable glass doors that open to an outdoor terrace complete with lounge seating and panoramic views of downtown LA. Other meeting amenities planners will find on-site include comprehensive multimedia and audiovisual support, catering services, and more.

For something to eat, attendees can grab food at the lobby-level Metropole Bar & Kitchen, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner focused on innovative dishes. Its interior design pays homage to the city’s underground tunnel system, which was originally built as an alternate transportation network for the downtown area and has a storied past as a conduit for contraband during Prohibition. The hotel’s 18th-floor outlet ,18 Social, provides small plates and cocktails; room service also is available between meetings, running from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
