Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa in Monterey is located just steps from downtown and Monterey Bay. The historic property is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, a tribute to its storied past rooted in hospitality. Featuring 154 guest rooms, a private day spa, its Estéban Restaurant, five meeting rooms, and more, the hotel has a rich menu of offerings for event planners.
According to a prepared statement released by Casa Munras, the property was originally developed by Spanish diplomat, artist, and businessman Don Estéban Munras as his family home. An expansive hacienda-style adobe, the home was the center of Don and his wife Catalina’s personal and public lives and was also used as a gathering spot for residents of the surrounding area.
The home was first turned into a hotel in the 1940s, later purchased by Inns of Monterey in 2012. Today, the hotel maintains its historic Spanish architecture and ambience and pays homage to its backstory with framed postcard images hung in each room. Planners can share a bit of that history by gathering in the Marbella room, which still has some of the original adobe house walls. Additional meeting spaces include the 2,240-square-foot Andalucia Ballroom; and Estéban Restaurant’s outdoor patio and 340-square-foot Antonia Private Dining Room, where visitors can explore a menu of Spanish-Californian cuisine like paella, tapas, and seafood.
As part of Casa Munras’ 200th anniversary celebration this year, the hotel is offering a package rate for events starting at $200 midweek on select dates. The package is available to groups with a minimum of 50 cumulative room nights and includes one complimentary guest room per 30 rooms booked, 15% off audiovisual equipment, 15% off room rentals, 15% off Desuar Spa treatments, and more. Casa Munras’ Desuar Spa is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features massage treatments, facials, aromatherapy, wraps and herbal body polishes, and more.
