The Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, located in downtown Long Beach, reopened in mid-November after an extensive, multimillion-dollar renovation project. Originally built in 1926, the hotel’s renovation was meant to restore the property to its original, historic grandeur while adding and updating modern amenities. Here, guests and eventgoers will find 185 guest rooms and suites, a luxury spa, rooftop bar, pool terrace, and two signature restaurants.

“We are proud to welcome guests to Fairmont Breakers Long Beach,” says Mark Steenge, general manager of the hotel, in a prepared statement. “It is an honor to play a role in the revival of an iconic landmark within this community, serving as a haven for visitors and locals alike This property is a testament to both the evolution of long beach as a thriving destination, and Fairmont’s commitment to set a new standard of luxury, elegance, and high-touch service with each and every experience.”

The Fairmont Breakers Long Beach has operated as a seaside escape for the rich and famous for decades, frequented by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Babe Ruth, and Clark Gable. The hotel’s vintage charm is now met with modern amenities, showcasing its history while catering to the needs of today’s travelers. Its design highlights a coastal color palate in guest rooms, anchored by shades of deep blues and pops of gold, complemented by mixed metals to emulate sunlight reflecting off the ocean’s surface. In the lobby, original architecture is paired with sparkling chandeliers, marble flooring, and sleek furnishings.

The hotel’s Sky Room has been a Long Beach favorite in fine dining since 1938, newly led by Chef Maxwell Pfeiffer and featuring a menu of fresh-caught seafood, premium meats, and regional produce alongside a diverse wine list. Its location atop the hotel provides guests with sweeping views of the Long Beach skyline and the sprawling Pacific Ocean. Nettuno is the hotel’s second on-site restaurant, a more relaxed yet elevated outlet serving a seasonal menu inspired by Italian home-cooked meals led by Chef de Cuisine Giuseppe A. Musso. Additional food and beverage outlets include Halo, the only rooftop bar in Long Beach; Alter Ego, the hotel’s upscale jazz bar; and La Sala, the stylish lobby bar.

The 10,000-square-foot Fairmont Spa at Fairmont Breakers Long Beach is the first and only luxury spa offering of its kind in the city. Within its walls, guests will find eight treatment rooms and a pre- and post-treatment relaxation lounge. For meeting planners, the hotel offers nearly 10,000 square feet of function space. The largest room, the Poseidon Ballroom, can host up to 175 theater- or reception-style. Other spaces include the Triton Ballroom, the Shell Suite, the Abalone room, and several others.
