After undergoing a $64 million property-wide renovation, Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa in Indian Wells rebranded to Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas in early September. The iconic desert resort is ushering in a new era of luxury with redesigned guest rooms and luxury villas, elevated accommodations, two new dining concepts, an expanded lobby experience, a reimagined pool complex with cabana offerings, and refreshed meeting and event spaces.

“Grand Hyatt hotels showcase bold and vibrant design and architecture, creating captivating destinations within a destination. The newly renovated and rebranded Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas will introduce guests and members to an elevated level of hospitality,” says Susan Santiago, president of U.S. and Canada markets at Hyatt. “Located in a key destination for leisure and business travelers looking to experience the best of Coachella Valley, the refreshed resort will help guests celebrate magnificent moments and create memorable experiences throughout their stay.”

The property’s newly enhanced accommodations consist of 531 rooms including 39 suites and 43 villas, which are set to debut this November. The renovated suites will offer plenty of space for families and groups with separate living areas, wet bars, and dual private balconies. Ground-floor suites also feature patios with convenient pool access.

The new luxury villas will include private backyards with hot tubs, plunge pools or firepits, kitchenettes, golf cart escorts around the property, and access to an exclusive arrival experience and dedicated villa concierge throughout their stay. To provide an intimate sense of place, the villas have been transformed to seamlessly blend into the desert locale with sophisticated interiors that layer artisanal details like muted hues and natural tones with new landscaping.

The upgraded pool experience includes HyTides, the largest water park in the Palm Springs area, which has nine pools, a set of 30-foot high dueling waterslides, a 450-foot lazy river, and a splash pad. The spacious outdoor recreation area has expanded cabanas for large groups and families, a refreshed cafe serving poolside favorites, and a food truck that offers pizza and Italian bites.

The property’s wellness and fitness offerings include tennis and pickleball courts, two adjacent world-class golf courses, the 30,000-square-foot Agua Serena Spa, and Kalologie MedSpa. Located adjacent to the spa, Kalologie offers a variety of cutting-edge and renewing services such as IV hydration therapy, B12 energy boosts, injectables, microneedling, clinical skincare, and chemical peels, among others.

Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas is also introducing two new restaurant concepts in collaboration with acclaimed Chef Angelo Sosa: Tía Carmen and Carmocha. With 25 years of experience under his belt, Sosa has worked with the industry’s most renowned restaurateurs and has opened several restaurants in New York City and Phoenix. Tía Carmen pays homage to Sosa’s aunt (Tía) Carmen and celebrates the local landscape, farmers and community of the Southwest with modern California flair. Carmocha reimagines global small plates from Tía Carmen’s perspective if she had traveled around the world and put her own spin on some of the international flavors she experience.

“Tía Carmen was my north star; she taught me the passion, love, charisma, and beauty of food and how transformative it could be,” says Sosa. “When people come into Tía Carmen and Carmocha, I want them to feel the essence of that transformative and creative nature and offer a glimpse of what she taught me. The restaurant spaces are very dynamic with indoor and outdoor dining. Tía Carmen has a stunning open kitchen where we can provide a demonstration or interactive experiences for corporate events and parties. Carmocha has lower and upper levels for dining and an outdoor space with beautiful Moroccan lanterns that offers a relaxed and seductive atmosphere. There are a multitude of dining experiences to be enjoyed, from cocktails and appetizers to breakfast and dinner, in an elegant and sophisticated setting.”

Located a short drive away from Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the resort is a top destination for events in the greater Palm Springs area with 88,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for weddings, meetings, and conferences. From the recently revitalized ballroom, meeting rooms, and boardrooms to terraces and lawns that offer beautiful desert views, groups have a wide variety of options for creating memorable gatherings for any moment or milestone.

“Our recently transformed meetings, conference, and events venues boast refreshed interior design, expansive windows with natural lighting, and warm and inviting decor, while our outdoor spaces provide views of the mountains and horizon, complemented by lush landscaping and desert-inspired decorative accents,” says Dan Johnson, general manager at the resort. “Our resort truly provides a unique, elevated, and full-service experience for groups that the Indian Wells community has not yet seen. Our events concierge works closely with our guests to book accommodations, curate outstanding culinary menus from our new signature restaurants, Tía Carmen and Carmocha, personalize itineraries, and much more.”
