Industry Pros Make March Moves

Properties across the Golden State are hiring and promoting seasoned hospitality and events professionals

Events and hospitality pros have been on the move this month at California properties. From the desert landscape of Rancho Mirage to the San Francisco Bay, properties are hiring and promoting for success. Check out three leaders who recently made moves.

In early March, Andrew Lombard joined Claremont Resort & Club in Berkeley as the new general manager of The Club, the property’s private members club that is available to all hotel guests. A senior leader in the industry, Lombard’s background spans private clubs and luxury resorts across California, where he has led operations encompassing membership, dining, wellness, events, and staff culture. He takes a hands-on approach to leadership and is known for building strong service cultures rooted in accountability, consistency, and pride in execution.

The Los Angeles Convention Center promoted Sonia Trejo from senior event manager to director of events and special projects in mid-March. Her key responsibilities in the newly created position involve leading the strategic execution of high-profile events and collaborating with planners, partners, and stakeholders to ensure events run smoothly. In addition, she will spearhead special initiatives across the venue’s meetings and conventions portfolio with a dedicated focus on communication and outreach to event organizers. Trejo’s previous experience includes the oversight of meetings and programs for Las Vegas-based Global Experience Specialists; T-Mobile, headquartered in Bellevue, Washington; and the Anaheim Convention Center.

Down in Rancho Mirage, Sensei Porcupine Creek appointed Cristoph Moje as its new general manager. Moje will oversee the management team at the 22-room boutique property. He brings two decades of experience to the role, previously holding leadership roles with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC (Bethesda, Maryland), Langham Hospitality Group (Wanchai, Hong Kong), and Dorchester Collection (London). Most recently, he served as general manager of Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. “I am delighted to welcome Christoph to the Sensei family,” says Alexandra Walterspiel, president and CEO of Sensei, in a prepared statement. “Having had the privilege of working alongside him in the past, I have witnessed firsthand his thoughtful leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
