The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa, formerly The Westin Sacramento Hotel, is a 101-room property along the Sacramento River right off Interstate 5. The property underwent an extensive renovation, redesign, and rebranding that wrapped up last April, with more updates and a private marina to come later this year. Meeting planners hosting in Sacramento will appreciate the hotel’s 7,887 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space alongside a spa, fitness center, and Scott’s Seafood on the River restaurant.

“The name change to The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa was significant to put an emphasis on the property’s prime location, nestled along the river, as well as the hotel’s on-site spa and commitment to providing guests a place of rest, relaxation, [and] wellness,” explains Mirinda Sildack, director of sales and marketing at the hotel. “The renovation of the property was important in bringing a new level of luxury, wellness, and experiences to the Sacramento area for our locals and passersby,” she continues. “The project tapped into the surrounding areas [and] local community, bringing in the history, landscape, and nearby businesses while elevating the overall atmosphere with modern amenities and design.”

The hotel’s redesign was led by Wilson Ishihara Design, a full-service hospitality design studio founded by Mark Wilson and Yoko Ishihara in 2015, which has handled similar projects at hotels and restaurants nationwide. Elements added to The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa include a live plant and pottery display (pieces by ceramicist Giselle Hicks) in the lobby; a color palette and materials inspired by the river including textured limestone, terrazzo, and tones of white oak, sage, and blush; a shop featuring handcrafted goods from Sacramento-based artists and purveyors; and a marble Westin Well, which offers alkaline, still, and sparkling waters so guests can refill their complimentary, reusable water bottles they receive at check-in, among others.

“Also debuting in early spring 2025 is The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa’s private marina, which will allow guests to host events, experience movie nights under the stars, enjoy exclusive tastings, and more,” adds Sildack. “The marina also will be open for guests along the river to dock their boats while visiting the property, whether for the day or overnight.”

Meeting planners hosting, or considering hosting, at the hotel are welcomed with 7,887 square feet of function space across several spaces. The largest is the Grand Monaco Ballroom, which totals 2,778 square feet in size and can be split into two smaller rooms, Monaco I and Monaco II. Portofino on the River’s Edge is situated parallel to the Sacramento River and provides stunning sunset views. Its 2,500 square feet of space can accommodate up to 200 people reception-style. Other spaces include the 500-square-foot Tower Room and the 195-square-foot Siena Boardroom.

“The property’s versatile spaces range from large ballrooms to outdoor or indoor riverfront spaces with sunset views, allowing guests options for venues fit for any type of event including happy hours, corporate meetings, large wedding bashes, etc.,” says Sildack. “All catering packages are supplied by the on-site restaurant, which has had a local cult following for several years.” Additionally, all audiovisual is supplied by a third-party partner of the hotel, with rates depending on event size and specific needs.
