Reimagined Mammoth Hotel Set to Reopen in November

By M+E Staff

After undergoing a total renovation, Sierra Nevada Resort is relaunching in Mammoth Lakes on Nov. 1. Located just five minutes away from California’s highest chairlift-serviced peak at Mammoth Mountain, the property has more than 7,800 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.

Built in the 1970s, this reimagined 179-room western classic exudes rustic luxury throughout. Guest-room design is a nod to Mammoth’s legacy of rugged irreverence that is conveyed through nostalgic art, illustrated maps, and western patterns that occur in natural tones. Ten cabins feature fireplaces, modern alpine furniture, and natural woods, and 20 four-bedroom villas are debuting on the 6-acre property in May 2023.

In the lobby, groups and leisure guests can sink into leather chairs and pull up rawhide stools for fireside chats and or a cocktail or two. Bar Sierra, the resort’s modern American restaurant, celebrates local beers while the lobby wine bar will offer a selection of international wines. Outside, a food garden is set to host a rotating selection of food trucks for on-the-go options, and a natural-edge pool overlooking the slopes will be a place to unwind after a day of meetings or adventure.

Sierra Nevada Resort not only provides easy access to downtown Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain, groups can explore area landmarks such as Devils Postpile National MonumentBodie State Historic Park, and Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.

Meeting & Event Space

  • The resort has an 1,800-square-foot venue just off the lobby that features a fireplace and the original resort’s refurbished bar.
  • Bar Sierra has a 600-square-foot private dining room and 2,400-square-foot patio that overlooks the resort’s outdoor venue and food garden. The restaurant also is available for full buyouts.
  • The outdoor venue space next to the pool offers encompasses 3,000 square feet of gathering space.
  • The resort’s villas and cabins stand independently from the resort’s two main buildings and accommodate up to 16 people for private gatherings.
