Bahia Resort Hotel and Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, located in San Diego and both managed by San Diego-based Evans Hotels, welcomed new general managers in mid-August. Stefan Peroutka joined Bahia Resort Hotel, formerly serving as executive chef at the nearby Hotel del Coronado for eight years. He replaces Jayne Aston, who was promoted to the general manager position at Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa.
“We’re delighted to welcome Stefan to Evans Hotels,” says Robert Gleason, president and CEO of Evans Hotels, in a prepared statement. “His extensive hospitality experience overseeing food and beverage programming and operations for some of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants is sure to expand and enhance the guest experience at the Bahia Resort Hotel.”
Prior to his stint at Hotel del Coronado, he led the banquet culinary operations at The Venetian Las Vegas in Nevada for seven years. He held earlier positions at hotels and restaurants around the world, including Vila Vita Parc in Porches, Portugal; The Ranier’s Club in Seattle, Washington; and Erna’s Elderberry House in Oakhurst, California.
Aston, now general manager at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, spent nearly two years as general manager at the Bahia Resort Hotel. She replaces Jim Chester, who moved on to pursue other professional opportunities in Atlanta, Georgia. “Jim was an integral part of our company’s success, and we greatly appreciate his leadership and vision over the past 15 years,” says Gleason. “We’re delighted to welcome Jayne to the Catamaran and are grateful for her continued and exceptional service to Evans Hotels and our guests. Her inspiring leadership of her team has created a passion and enthusiasm felt throughout the resort.”
Bahia Resort Hotel is located near Mission Beach and Belmont Park and features 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Its Mission Bay Ballroom spans nearly 8,000 square feet in size and can accommodate up to 1,200 attendees reception-style. Additional amenities on-site include five culinary outlets—Dockside 1953, weekend brunch, Chef’s Table, Airstream Grab ’n Go, and the Pool Bar & Grill—an Olympic-size swimming pool, sightseeing cruises aboard the Bahia Belle sternwheeler boat, beach access, and more.
Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is located just north of Bahia and also offers 20,000 square feet of function space, spanning both indoor and outdoor options. Its Kon Tiki Ballroom is 4,876 square feet in size and can host up to 700 people reception-style, and its north and south beaches offer a total of 14,000 square feet in size for up to 1,000 reception-style. Other spaces include the Aviary Ballroom, Rousseau Suite, and more.
