The San Francisco Travel Association (SFTA) held its 113th annual meeting last November, bringing together more than 600 travel and tourism leaders from the Bay Area at Pier 27 along The Embarcadero to celebrate the year’s achievements. Most notably, the meeting also served as an ode to retiring CEO Joe D’Alessandro’s career while welcoming the organization’s new President and CEO Scott Beck.
“In his nearly two decades at the association, Joe had a lasting impact on the organization and city,” says Lynn Bruni-Perkins, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for SFTA. “Joe helped establish dedicated funding for SF Travel through the San Francisco Tourism Improvement District, championed and helped lead the $500 million renovation of the Moscone Center, and was instrumental in bringing major events and conferences to the city—including America’s Cup and the Super Bowl.”
Beck comes to SFTA with extensive hotel and destination marketing experience, previously serving as president and CEO of Destination Toronto in Ontario for four years leading the sales and marketing efforts for Canada’s most-visited destination. Before that, he served as president and CEO of Visit Salt Lake in Utah for 14 years.
