Pacifica Hotels recently announced their sale of the Hilton Garden Inn Marina del Rey hotel to Chatham Lodging Trust. The transaction happened at $44.5 million and follows the completion of a renovation in 2013.
“The successful sale of the Hilton Garden Inn Marina del Rey is a result of Pacifica Hotels’ well-defined approach,” said Matt Marquis, Pacifica Hotels president and CEO. “Similar to the Hilton Garden Inn’s award-winning transformation, we will continue to strategically develop and reposition assets in premier destinations. Our reputation for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences and unique lodging products is proven, and this sale is further evidence of solid performance.”
Pacifica hotels is the largest owner of independent hotels on the Pacific Coast. They acquired the Marina del Rey in 2006 when it was known as the Marina International Hotel. In 2013 the name changed with the completion of the renovation, unveiling a 134-room hotel. The renovation also included the Marina Bar & Grill. In 2014 the renovation won the name “Best Conversion” property from Hilton Worldwide, making it the only hotel in the Americas to have earned this name.
The renovation was designed to go with the rapid growth of the Marina del Rey market and add to its beachside community. With the renovations of all the hotels, Marina del Rey has now earned the name “Silicon Beach” because of the combination of both start-up and established technology businesses.
Pacifica’s other Marina del Rey hotels include Jamaica Bay Inn, Inn at Marina del Rey, and Inn at Venice Beach.
