Sustainability doesn’t always have to be hard for hotels. It can sometimes be soft. And we mean that literally. When the Best Western Avita Suites wanted to find homes for 200 of their gently used pillows and cases they were replacing, they reached out to Discover Torrance for assistance. The CVB tapped into the community—Old Torrance Neighborhood and the Rotary Club of Torrance Del Amo – to help get the word out. The pillows were distributed to the Union Rescue Mission in Downtown Los Angeles, a family of eight, homeless outreach programs, animal shelters and hospitals, Camp Pendleton, and Seaside Community United Church of Christ whose women’s group is supporting Little Dresses for Africa in making pillowcase dresses.
