Colleen Pace of Visit Greater Palm Springs fosters a work culture that thrives on community and passion

By Amanda Christensen

Originally from Upstate New York, Colleen Pace began her sales and marketing career in mountainous Colorado in 1998 with roles at a variety of the state’s hotels and resorts. Her first role in California came in 2014 when she accepted the position of director of sales and marketing for the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage—and she has called the desert her home ever since. After four years with the resort, she moved to Visit Greater Palm Springs where she now serves as chief sales and marketing officer.

“Beyond representing a beautiful, unique, and diverse destination, I enjoy cultivating strong relationships with industry partners, stakeholders, and local businesses,” Pace says. “I love connecting people with place through our marketing efforts—sharing unique hidden gems and impacting visitation to Greater Palm Springs.”

Holding a longtime passion for hospitality, Pace is drawn to working with people and crafting connections both with external associates and internal colleagues—the latter being something she is particularly proud of. “I am most proud of the team—we have a group of driven high performers who consistently produce a high volume of quality work,” she says. “It is great to be a part of such a talented team and organization.”

Fostering that kind of work environment is rooted in the core of her leadership beliefs—namely always having a positive attitude, encouraging open communication, and building trust. “Our organizational culture is something we nurture and protect based on balance, collaboration, community, inclusion, innovation, integrity, and passion,” she adds. “Those are the values I uphold in all my work.”

Some might say promoting this Southern California oasis of nine sunny desert cities in the Coachella Valley is a dream—and Pace wouldn’t argue with that. “Our destination is filled with palm trees and stunning mountain views in all directions,” she describes, adding that, “When you love what you do, working hard comes naturally and doesn’t feel like hard work.”
