A Heavenly Spa Retreat in Beverly Hills

By M+E Staff

The happiest place in the world may still be Disneyland, but contending for the most blissful, at least in Los Angeles, is The Spa on Rodeo. Hidden in a mews on Beverly Hill’s most storied boulevard, this oasis has four treatment rooms, four pedicure soaking tubs and two manicure stations.

The Spa was founded by a podiatric surgeon, Bobby Pourziaee, so the pedicures are a specialty. “I believe that healthy feet are the foundation of optimal well being and use that as the basis for care at The Spa,” says Dr. Pourziaee. Each pedicure begins with a healing foot soak infused with detoxifying chlorophyll and soothing coconut to restore and soften your hard-working tootsies. The soak is set in raw copper basins because copper is known to increase circulation and decrease inflammation; it also feels very ooh-la-la!

I took a rain check on the pedicure the day that I was invited in, along with other members of the press, and instead enjoyed a hot towel aromatherapy massage and a skin-revision facial.  My therapists were, respectively, Destiny and Aurora, and if those sound like names from a fairy tale, I can tell you that’s apt. Both treatments were extraordinary, among the best I’ve ever experienced. Destiny told me my shoulders were tighter than a drum; no surprise since I’d spent that morning stressing over a computer that seemed to have been taken over by gremlins. (Whatever keys I pressed, it typed a combination of “S”s and “9”s, so everything I wrote looked like this: ssss99999s9s9s99999ssss999.) But by the end of my 60 minutes with Destiny, my knots had been transformed into wet noodles. Aurora was equally gifted, taking me through a facial that was a combination of botanicals and technology; nearly a week later, my skin still has that post-facial glow.

All this is by way of saying that The Spa on Rodeo is the perfect spot for a mini-retreat. You and your guests could have the place all to yourselves and the gracious staff is open to customizing your event down to every detail, including catering, cocktails and makeovers.  I do have one request: please invite me!
