It’s difficult to imagine a more festive place than Fogo de Chão in Beverly Hills on a recent night when the Brazilian steakhouse unveiled their renovation and new bar menu to the press. Fogo de Chão, which has 47 locations in Brazil, Mexico and the United States (including another SoCal spot in downtown Los Angeles and outposts in San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose), serves fire-roasted meats in the centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique of churrasco. The meats are sliced off giant skewers that are presented tableside by strolling gauchos, while the Market Table & Feijoada Bar offers fresh seasonal salads, soups, vegetables, cheeses and traditional Brazilian side dishes, including the best black beans I’ve ever tasted.
The Beverly Hills location opened in March 2005, and its faithful guests will see that the refreshed space is more open and light-filled, with heavy window treatments swapped for sheer curtains, barriers removed to allow for clear sightlines, a living greenery wall and a new outdoor patio.
An expanded bar menu features bites like braised beef rib sliders and new cocktails such as a Mango Habanero Caipirinha.
All locations welcome groups from 15 to 200 in private or semiprivate rooms, with complimentary audio-visual equipment. There’s also a “have grill, will travel” option for off-site events. And though Fogo is a steakhouse, options abound for pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans, and nearly the entire menu is gluten-free.
There’s a spring promotion for groups going on right now in Los Angeles. Make a reservation for 15 or more guests by May 12, for an event held by June 11, and you will receive one dining card toward your next visit. (A $150 Fogo dining card for events of $75/per person or more, or $100 Fogo dining card for events of $74/per person or less.)
