Goldmoor Inn Appoints New Director of Events

The Goldmoor Inn has announced Glenn Griffith as its new director of events. Griffith will all event planning at the 21-acre property based in Galena, Ill.

He brings more thanr 25 years of experience to his new role, previously serving as director of catering in hotels such as The New York Palace Hotel, The Charles Hotel at Harvard Square and Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. He also has owned his own social and corporate event planning company, Glenn Griffith Inc.

New Venue Spotlight: Nobu Hotel Chicago

Nobu Hotel Chicago is set to debut in late 2017 in the popular West Loop neighborhood through a partnership of actor Robert DeNiro, Chef Nobu Matsushisa, Hollywood producer Meir Teper and Australian business tycoon James Packer. The luxury property will offer 103 guest rooms, a 10,000-square-foot restaurant, as well as a rooftop bar, indoor pool, private spa services and various unique event and private dining spaces.

Instead, illustrator Tammy Smith hand-makes cityspecific items including tea towels, pillows, platters and totes that provide novelty items for gift bags and clients. After being laid off as an artist for Hallmark Cards, Smith started her city collections in 2014 with a series devoted to her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, but it’s her Chicago assortment that’s really taking off.

Seasonal menus feature homemade pastas that use locally sourced ingredients, plus a wide-ranging cocktail program. The Jimmy Two Times was inspired by the movie “Goodfellas” and boasts the flavors of rye whiskey, ginger and grapefruit.

Chicago’s leading community and corporate company Wintrust Financial Corporation has announced they’re opening a new event center at the McCormick Square that will be called Wintrust Arena. This announcement came from a letter of intent that was signed with DePaul University.

Flashback: Chicago Athletic Association Hotel Builds on Long History

Though the Chicago Athletic Association hotel has become one of the hottest new properties in Chicago, the history of the building goes back more than a century. The original CAA was established in 1890 with a mission of “providing a setting for athletic, business and social activities.” Founding members included AG Spalding, Cyrus McCormick and Marshall Field.

Bob’s Steak & Chop House Announces Opening of New Location

American steakhouse Bob’s Steak & Chop House, has revealed they will open a new location at Omni Berkshire Place in Manhattan. The restaurant is slated to have an old-school aesthetic with 210 seats and a 40-seat bar.
