Chicago hotels are inviting meeting attendees to bust a move with new fitness programs that really stretch the limits of breakout sessions.

JW Marriott Chicago recently launched the “Fit Meetings” program, exclusively tailored to meeting participants. It offers a choice of three breakout enhancements that focus on meditation, posture and boosting energy or three longer-format fitness classes led by the spa’s Nike-certified personal trainers. Groups of up to 200 are welcome.

Once again, ACCESS Destination Services in Chicago has made Inc. Magazine’s Top 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private companies. Each year, Inc. ranks the fastest-growing companies, and ACCESS is one of the few destination management companies that has made the list four years running.

Event Snapshots: The Last Speakeasy

What better reason to toast a cocktail than the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition? With that “spirit” in mind, the Chicago History Museum organized The Last Speakeasy event in December, a party to celebrate the 82nd anniversary of the passage of the 21st Amendment that reversed the ban on alcohol. Before it, 1930s speakeasies and coordinating mob activity were ubiquitous to Chicago, which was the retro feel the museum had in mind for the event.

Omni Providence Hotel Hires New General Manager

Rhode Island's, Omni Providence Hotel, recently hired Burnell Goldman as general manager. His responsibilities include overseeing all departments of the hotel. Goldman is a 10-year veteran with Omni Hotel & Resorts and comes to Omni Providence Hotel from Omni Jacksonville Hotel in Florida, where he served as general manager since 2013.

There’s a world of flavors out there and Arbella aims to try them all. The new River North cocktail lounge, from the VBD Hospitality team behind Peruvian restaurant Tanta, describes itself as “an energetic, sophisticated social gathering place celebrating the art of mixology with a sense of travel and exploration.” The spirit shows in this drink inspired by a summertime refresher of lime sorbet topped off with red wine often sold in Mexican street markets.

Deskpass Gives Access to a Giant Co-Working Network

If your work office is too noisy or your home office is in too much disarray to actually get anything done, there’s an app for that. It’s called Deskpass, from a Chicagobased company called Desktime, and it offers a subscription platform providing an online directory of 25 co-working spaces you can reserve with the tap of a button.

For $199 a month you can have a different workspace every day, or for $99 you can reserve a new space eight days out of the month.

Delightful Pastries Offers a Delectable Spread

With the upcoming St. Joseph’s and Easter holidays, sweet tables are in season (as if you really needed an excuse). Someone that really knows how to set the table is Chicago’s own Delightful Pastries, a European-style bakery run by pastry chef Dobra Bielinski, who was trained in her native Poland. Along with her mother and brother, Bielinski whips up old-world favorites with the freshest ingredients, including real sugar and butter and no preservatives.
