Located in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood, the Clayton Hotel & Members Club appointed two hospitality professionals to its leadership team at the end of September: McClinton Heil as area managing director and Colter Hocking as general manager. Together, the two will focus on elevating the hotel’s propertywide operations and member and guest experiences.
“We are pleased to have McClinton and Colter’s leadership at the forefront to uphold Clayton Hotel & Members Club’s genuine hospitality and service,” says Eric Gavin, president of the hotel’s managing company Makeready, in a prepared statement. “Colter’s Denver roots and McClinton’s focus on guest experience and community connection will all serve to further the evolution of the hotel and members-club experience.”
Heil previously served as managing director at Halcyon, A Hotel in Cherry Creek, Clayton Hotel’s sister property. Since Makeready also manages Halcyon, the company expanded his title so he now oversees operations for both properties. Before coming to Denver, Heil was general manager of Hotel Emblem San Francisco.

Hocking also brings a wealth of industry experience to his new role, previously serving as general manager of Catbird Hotel, also in Denver. “I’m honored to step into the role of general manager at such an exciting time in Clayton’s evolution,” says Hocking. “Clayton is more than a hotel and member’s club, it’s a community. I look forward to building on that foundation, continuing to elevate the experience for our members and guests, and helping create meaningful moments that reflect the energy and spirit of Cherry Creek.”

For events, Clayton Hotel & Members Club has gathering spaces on-site. The 2,074-square-foot Margaret Ballroom accommodates 190 attendees, the 140-square-foot Griffith Boardroom Denver hosts eight, and the 950-square-foot Richens Denver Meeting Room works for up to 115.
