Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center embarked on a comprehensive, $70 million renovation early last year that was synced with the property’s 20th anniversary, having opened in 2005. That transformation completed in early April, touching on the hotel’s 1,100 guest rooms and suites and resulting in a new event space.

All overnight rooms now feature interior designs anchored by natural materials like wood and stone, complemented by porcelain and vegan leather, that together represent Denver’s surrounding landscapes. Warm, earthy tones of brown, beige, and green are present in each room, and updated amenities include upgraded lighting and under-TV storage.
The new event space, Summit Five, is an 891-square-foot meeting room that joins the hotel’s existing 60,000-plus square feet of function space. The room is on the fifth floor and can be used in tandem with the nearby Denver City Terrace, which offers another 3,500 square feet of space. Other event rooms at the property include Mineral Hall for up to 540 attendees, the Centennial Ballroom for up to 3,000, and three executive boardrooms (named Limestone, Sandstone, and Marble), among others.

“This transformation represents a meaningful investment in both our physical spaces and the people who bring them to life each day,” says Greg Leonard, general manager of the hotel, in a prepared statement. “We’re elevating the guest experience while also supporting our team with an environment designed for long-term success.”

Also pivotal to the project were a slew of sustainability initiatives to reduce waste and incorporate recycled materials. For the guest room updates, nearly 90% of the previous furniture, mattresses, lighting, and artwork was resold and diverted from landfills, and the new shower pans were made using recycled resources, specifically some 450 recycled plastic bottles for each pan. Partner vendors for the project included many companies based in Colorado or with offices in the state, such as DLR Group (design and architecture, with an office in Denver), Artaic Group (construction, based in Denver), Benjamin West (hospitality equipment and supplies purchasing, headquartered in Boulder), and Milender White (construction, based in Arvada).
