Planners and attendees looking to stay near one of the United States’ most visited national parks, Rocky Mountain National Park, have a new place to meet, relax, and enjoy the outdoors with the recent opening of the Trailborn Rocky Mountains property in Estes Park, Colorado.
“Outdoor travel and national park visitation have skyrocketed in recent years, but accommodations in these destinations have not kept up with travelers’ preferences,” Ben Weinberg, co-CEO and co-founder of Trailborn says in a prepared statement. “Trailborn is delivering something new—thoughtful design, curated amenities and activities, and vibrant bar and restaurant concepts to provide a consistently amazing, yet locally authentic experience at each of our hotels. We’re excited to be the first to introduce this type of hospitality experience in places where we know travelers are looking for it.”
The 40-room Trailborn Rocky Mountains opened recently at the eastern entrance of the park and a nearby Rocky Mountains Outpost is set to open this spring. The hotels are set to include amenities such as a restaurant, bar, cafe, two retail markets offering a selection of curated local products and grab-and-go items, and extensive outdoor public areas with seasonal pools, patios, porches, and communal fire pits. Both offer views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Trailborn properties cater to outdoor enthusiasts looking for both luxury and access to nature with a modern-meets-rustic aesthetic.
Trailborn, which is part of Castle Peak Holdings, collaborated with Venice Beach-based architecture firm Electric Bowery to design Trailborn Rocky Mountains with Americana themes as well as tributes to the rustic wilderness that surrounds it. The rooms at Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountains Outpost are design-forward, functional, and meant to serve as comfortable respites between outdoor adventures. Guests can choose from a variety of layouts including king, double queen, and deluxe suite. The rooms are stocked with a lightweight portable cooler perfect for picnics and outdoor excursions, as well as tea kettles and lanterns. Select rooms have private balconies with additional seating.
The public spaces at Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountains Outpost each have their own lobby lounge, which serves as a communal living room with wraparound built-in couches, fireplaces, books, and boardgames. Throughout the day, the hotel lobby, patio, and fire pit area offer on-site programming, from seasonal morning yoga to whiskey tastings and s’mores by the campfire to afternoon lawn games. The pools at both properties feature Adirondack chairs, lounge seating, custom murals by local artists, a popsicle cart, and games.
The hotels also offer exclusive off-site excursions like fly fishing, wildlife photography tours, and backcountry snowshoeing that leave from the lobby. Trailborn has created curated field guides with local insider tips, and the staff is trained to help guests plan their entire visit to get the most out of their time in the Rocky Mountains.
Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountains Outpost are just a short walk from downtown Estes Park, a charming mountain town with breweries, taffy shops, and quirky stores as well as seasonal festivals and concerts year-round—such as the infamous Frozen Dead Guy Days and Rooftop Rodeo.
For meetings and events, Trailborn goes beyond the traditional conference room with several indoor and outdoor spaces that can be booked. The company provides group rates for corporate retreats. Those interested can reach out to events@staytrailborn.com to learn more about the capabilities.
