Between flooding, logging and overuse, Colorado’s Summit County trails are in need of some rebuilding. CBST Adventures has partnered with the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District to create an addition to their outdoor team building adventures. The program invites companies to partake in a team-building experience while aiding in the rebuild of trails found throughout Keystone, Breckenridge and Frisco.
From single-track mountain bikers to standard hikers, these trails experience heavy traffic. Due to damage from flooding, trail users have resorted to finding alternative paths around the wet and boggy areas. In doing so, damage has been caused to plants and new, unmarked trails have been created.
The program will partake in building a natural “turnpike.” In hopes of preventing the water overflow from creating those wet and boggy areas, the group will aim to build an elevated trail base using materials found throughout the forest. Volunteers will be helping with a wide range of activities including “rock shopping” and peeling logs just as if they were constructing a log cabin.
