It was a treat to experience the new Meow Wolf Denver during a media preview event without all the crowds and to meet various artists and staff who made this third permanent exhibition from the U.S.-based arts and entertainment company a reality. Convergence Station opened to the public for quantum travel on Sept. 17, 2021 and held its first concert the following day.
More than 300 creatives (muralists, sculptors, fiber artists, technologists and more), including 110+ Colorado-based collaborating artists, brought four floors of mind-boggling interactive space to life. Convergence Station, located near Empower Field at Mile High, transports guests and groups on a journey of discovery into a surreal, science-fictional epic that occurs in four anchor spaces. Wandering through, you will see a kaleidoscopic cathedral, Corinthian catacombs, lush alien habitats, and gritty cityscapes.
In addition to the art, guests can experience the 488-person live performance venue called The Perplexiplex, where concerts will take place on a regular basis and group gatherings can happen. During the day, the space transforms into an interactive visual and sound experience by Moment Factory. There also is a large gift shop and HELLOFOOD, a fast-casual cafe that features local food and beverages by local entrepreneurs who represent a convergence of cultures. Meals can be enjoyed indoors or on an outdoor patio, which is suitable for group gatherings.
“Denver’s art scene is active and vibrant, making it the perfect place for our next exhibition,” says Chadney Everett, executive creative director of Meow Wolf Denver. “Convergence Station is Meow Wolf’s third permanent immersive experience, and it will truly change the way you look at art. This exhibition is unlike anything you’ve ever seen … from The Swamp to The Cathedral there’s a strong narrative to be uncovered should you choose, alongside truly mind-bending art from the many talented creatives that have worked so hard to bring the vision to life.”
Meow Wolf also has locations in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitors are required to pre-book a time slot for entry. Watch for details about how groups can tap into this unique new Denver attraction!
