Visit Boulder, the city’s convention and visitors bureau, collaborated with the Boulder hotel community to introduce a Boulder Lodging Business Assessment Area (LBAA). The LBAA will directly support Boulder’s lodging businesses and broader hospitality community through a 2% assessment on gross short-term rental revenue, which will be invested in initiatives that strengthen the Boulder economy.
The LBAA is expected to generate $2.1 million in its first year, yielding additional resources to attract large groups, meetings, and events to meet the demands of Boulder’s increasing number of accommodations, generate interest in Boulder’s low season, and contribute to citywide transportation and infrastructure solutions. With two new hotels joining the community—Moxy Boulder and Limelight Boulder—the timing of the LBAA is meant to sustainably manage Boulder’s growth while continuing to support the long-term success of the city’s hospitality industry.
