As snow returns to Colorado’s high country and anticipation of the upcoming winter season becomes evident among locals, there are some fun announcements of interest for groups from mountain towns and those surrounded by mountains. These are just a few of the many new highlights shared by our friends at the Colorado Tourism Office.
The Osprey at Beaver Creek is offering three new snowshoe adventures—Winter Wine Excursions, Fondue + Shoe and Women’s Walk + Wine—that combine a fun outing with gourmet après snowshoe after the exercise is over.
The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park has added a new “Illusions of the Passed” theatrical séance, led by in-house illusionist Aidan Sinclair, who was featured on America’s Got Talent. The historic hotel also partners with REI Adventures to offer a special Outdoor School series such as campfire cooking and survival courses.
Five hot springs destinations in the western part of Colorado—Chaffee County, Pagosa Springs, Ouray County, Glenwood Springs and Steamboat Springs—have formed the Colorado Historic Hot Springs Loop with 19 unique facilities. Each of these communities has a ski resort in town or nearby.
The new Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience in Cañon City features a collection of interactive displays, full-scale dinosaur fossils and a multi-story ropes course.
Tahoe-based Basecamp Hotels has brought a totally new approach and look to Boulder’s former Quality Inn Boulder Creek with 50 mountain-themed rooms, including a suite with green turf, a mural of Boulder’s Flatiron Mountains and four sunken twin beds. Basecamp Boulder also features an indoor climbing wall, deck with fire pit complete with make-your-own-s’mores kits and a lounge for groups to gather.
