Three Days Not to Miss – Colorado’s Meetings Week

By M+E Staff

If you haven’t blocked out time to attend what has become known as Colorado’s Meetings Week, do it now for some of the best networking and educational opportunities of the year right in our own backyard.

The magazine’s9th Annual Best of Colorado Awards is on the evening of March 16 at Mile High Station, when we also will announce our 2015 Hall of Fame inductees. RSVP now for a night of celebrating and mingling with more than 400 planners, suppliers and other guests from throughout the meetings and events industry.

The program for the 15th annual Meetings Industry Council’s Educational Conference and Trade Show is available to browse online. There is a new session, “Continuing the Conversation 2.0 – State of the Industry and Top Trends,” just for planners on March 17 before an opening reception for speakers, planners, exhibitors and sponsors. Also in the new category is the fact that the general sessions and tradeshow on March 18 are being set up together instead of in two separate spaces and instead of a banquet lunch, MIC is introducing a walking lunch to browse the trade show and create more interaction before the afternoon keynote Mark Scharenbroich.

I love many of the session titles, which made me realize how catchy titles can energize a conference. The morning keynote Steve Spangler is talking about “Flying Potatoes and Exploding Soda” and how they relate to taking customer service to the next level. We’ve had Spangler’s science experiments in my house, so many of you with kids also may be anxious to see the man who caused your sons and daughters to create massive geysers with soda and Mentos (hopefully outside!). I’m also curious about “What Sled Dogs Have to Teach Us About Wild Teams & Meetings;” “I’ll Take Hodge Podge for $1,000: Things to Remember When Hosting an Event;” and “Using Your Brain to Win in Today’s Hyper Paced World.” It will be hard to pick one only three out of the 18 options during the concurrent breakout sessions. Good problem!

I applaud the 13 industry organizations that team up to make MIC possible and to produce one great conference instead of several that we have to choose between. I hope to see you at Meetings Week as it’s always a priority on my calendar and a chance to meet people and reconnect with those I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know in my 10 years as editor of Colorado Meetings + Events. Register for both now!
