Promotions and Staff Appointments at Colorado Hotels

Springhill Suites, The Hythe, and The Art Hotel announce people news

Properties in Aurora, Denver, and Vail are among those that have shared recent promotions and staff appointments at Colorado hotels featuring meeting and event space. Find out who has been elevated to general manager and named executive chef at name-brand and boutique hotels.

Dorian Phillips has been promoted to general manager of Springhill Suites Denver at Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, a property managed by Commonwealth Hotels. Phillips brings over 13 years of hospitality experience to the role having previously served as assistant general manager for Hyatt Regency Aurora Denver Conference Center.

Prior to joining Commonwealth Hotels, he began his hospitality career as a corporate management trainee at Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center and was elevated to various leadership roles. Phillips also has worked for Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and Children’s Hospital Aurora.

Axel Torres is the new executive chef for The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort, Vail, leading the property’s four culinary outlets, weekly epicurean experiences, and catering for meetings and events.

Growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Torres led fine dining concepts at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay; The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis; and The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. He was also part of the opening team for Mi Casa at Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Since moving to Colorado in 2012, Torres has worked at the former Hotel Talisa (now Grand Hyatt Vail) and Spago by Wolfgang Puck at Beaver Creek.

Ashley Robertson has been appointed executive chef of Fire Restaurant & Lounge at The Art Hotel Denver, Curio Collection by Hilton, a role that also includes in-room dining and catering menu development.

Robertson’s culinary journey began at Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. She continued cooking at some of Denver’s largest convention hotels, including Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, before being appointed chef de cuisine at The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio’s Zocca Cuisine D’Italia Restaurant. After three years in Texas, she returned home to Denver as executive sous chef and then interim executive chef at Sheraton Denver Downtown.
