Beaumont CVB Sweeps Industry Awards

The Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau took home several top honors in the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Idea Fair at the organization’s annual conference in El Paso.

“Our team continues to prove themselves year after year with award-winning initiatives and this year is no different,” says Dean Conwell, executive director for the Beaumont CVB. “With only three submissions, our team came home with six awards. To me, that speaks volumes about the level of talent we have here at home.”

Beaumont CVB Receives Top Honors

New Courtyard Marriott Opens in Mt. Pleasant

The Mt. Pleasant Area Convention and Visitors Bureau recently revealed the Courtyard Marriott at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. Although it opened on July 13, 2016, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was not held until Aug. 16, 2016.

Arlington CVB Study Shows Positive Tourism Results

Almost 14 million visitors spent an estimated $1.4 billion last year in Arlington, Texas, according to a study conducted by Longwoods International. This study was prepared for the Arlington Convention & Visitor’s Bureau with a mission to provide an overview of Arlington’s tourism business in 2015. It included information about overnight and day visitors, how much visitors were spending and other relevant trends.

Winnebago County Sees Tourism Growth

Tourist spending in Rockford and Winnebago counties has continues to rise year after year—in 2015 it reached $349.91 million, a 3 percent increase from the previous year, according to the Illinois Department of Commerce’s Office of Tourism.

"We are delighted to see such strong results again this year for the tourism economy in Winnebago County," says Roberta Holzwarth, board chair, Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Sustained economic growth is crucial as we transform our region.”

Vancouver, BC is No. 1!

According to Watkins Research Group’s biennial Meeting and Convention Planners Survey, out of 40 North American cities, Vancouver, B.C. is the top convention city in Canada and the second in North America!

Watkins’ rankings are based on responses from nearly 900 industry planners and decision makers from around the world. In the survey, Vancouver was:

Sedona CVB Project Wins Big

This year, the Arizona Office of Tourism created a “Grand Pitch” contest; the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism’s Sedona Secret campaign was recognized for the best marketing presentation. The prize was $100,000 in in-kind marketing funds.

The Arizona Office of Tourism said the contest supports destination marketing efforts and increases the economic benefits of tourism activity across over the state.

Philly Has Record Year

Just in time for the new year, Center City Philadelphia is right on track to end 2015 with a record hotel occupancy.

Record Hotel Occupancy: 77.4%:

Center City Philadelphia’s hotel occupancy is estimated to hit a record 77.4 percent in up from 75.5 percent in 2014. Visitors to Philadelphia from all segments (leisure, group, business) will have filled a projected 3.1 million rooms—another record.
