Discover Puerto Rico announced the launching of its new brand campaign, "Have We Met Yet?" which represents the essense of Puerto Rico--it's natural wonders, unique culture and hospitable people. The new campaign highlights the island's offerings and represent a warm welcome to visitors.
"When developing this campaign, we looked to research findings and discovered that Puerto Rico's brand identity was neutral for travelers," says Leah Chandler, CMO of Discover Puerto Rico. "Using this information, we decided to position the destination as one's neighbor, given the ease of traveling there, too."
"Have We Met Yet?" launched on April 22 across digital channels and will consist of a television spot in the future in select markets. Chandler says they will continue running the campaign throughout the summer with additional marketing efforts until the end of 2019.
Discover Puerto Rico also recently revamped its website, which now includes more than 300 new pieces of digital content for visitors to enjoy, whether planning a trip to the island, attending a meeting or simply looking for inspiration. The website serves as a one-stop shop for visitors who want to learn more about the island and get involved in local events.
Chandler says Puerto Rico is an ideal location for meetings and events because of its rich culture, history and tropical setting, minus the need for passports, currency exchanges or navigating language barriers.
"The island has a diverse list of hotels and resorts that offer backdrops ranging from scenic beaches to locations in the heart of metropolitan San Juan. We also have diverse venues that meet the needs of a variety of groups. The Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan is the most technically advanced center in the Caribbean and offers a variety of amenities," Chandler says.
Additionally, Discover Puerto Rico is preparing for the 2020 opening of District San Juan, a five-acre hospitality and entertainment space, which will include restaurants, zip lines and a variety of indoor training, security and facilities.
"We look forward to welcoming even more MICE groups, including the upcoming World Travel and Tourism Council 2020 Global Summit, which we recently announced," says Chandler.
