The Emery Hotel recently opened its doors to guests, just in time for visitors of the NCAA Final Four tournament. Originally Midland Bank, the building was constructed in 1906, and the new hotel space is fully embracing its rich history.

"We strive to serve one guest at a time and try to be creative in how we engage, similar to Midland Bank," says Emery general manager, Ian McClendon. "They implemented drive through tellers to help their clients, and we guide our guests, telling stories about offerings and history of the building as they walk from valet to reception. Similar to how Midland Bank would take consumers that other banks turned away, our team is proud of where they come from and embrace the community."

McClendon says Emery is to serve as a gathering place not only for visitors, but also for local Minnesotans. From its local partnerships to the Minneapolis-inspired designs and concepts, Emery is a welcoming spot for visitors and a celebration of what makes Minnesota Minnesota.

Though Emery didn't have a grand opening celebration, McClendon says they will be hosting a variety of smaller events targeted to their key customer base. They also had a couple friends and family nights in Giulia where locals were invited to get a sneak peek of the new space.

"Emery really is the evolution of the hotel experience," McClendon says. "People are searching for experiences they cannot find anywhere else, and Emery embodies that. The culture that lives in this hotel will set us apart, and I think hoteliers in the state will definitely try to replicate our spirit."
