Twin Cities NACE recreated two events from the 2018 NACE Experience conference in Palm Springs, California, for its recap event. Complete with tapestry tones, glitter tattoos and jalapeno margaritas, the night’s opening reception paid homage to the conference’s Coachella theme. The dinner portion riffed on the conference’s closing gala dinner art deco venue: the historic Riviera Palm Springs. Event Lab brought the event to life through décor and design. Imagine a playground for event professionals–where there’s no pressure to be somewhere or to stick to an agenda—and you’ve got Haute Dokimazo, HD for short. “There’s a time and place where education needs to happen, but we also, as senior event managers, sometimes need to talk to each other,” says Liz Lathan, chief experience officer at Haute Dokimazo.

 

As co-presidents of Eureka Recycling, a social enterprise dedicated to demonstrating that waste is preventable—not inevitable—Kate Davenport and Lynn Hoffman want to help planners think beyond recycling bins and compost collection.

 

“Cannabis can have a presence in the dinner entrées and the desserts at an event. One of our panel experts from the event, Chef Sunflower [aka Enid Parham], plans the meals with ‘microdoses’ of cannabis so there is not too much consumed at one time,” says Connie Seibt, event manager and vice president of programs and education, ILEA Detroit. “It should be planned ahead for the type of cannabis to infuse in the foods, i.e. providing a relaxing mood versus high energy.
