The 19th annual Meetings Industry Council of Colorado Educational Conference & Trade Show on March 12-13 was held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver and featured two days of networking, education and an expo. MIC of Colorado is a coalition of 13 professional organizations related to the meetings and events industry.

Chef Adam Vero joined Hearth & Dram in Denver as executive chef last year and recruited Jeff Hickman as his chef de cuisine. Both previously worked for TAG Restaurant Group, also located in Denver. The duo has created inventive new menus at Hearth & Dram and reimagined the “Whole Beast Feast,” a group dining event for 10-12 participants that is designed to showcase the eatery’s nose-to-tail philosophy. Five to seven courses are prepared on a sevenfoot, wood-fired grill and served family style to highlight the team’s culinary abilities and no-waste philosophy.

On May 31 at International Market Square, the National Speakers Association – Minnesota Chapter (NSAMN) held its annual gala to celebrate the past year and recognize outstanding members, from those who earned their CSP to those who offered advice and knowledge throughout the year. Awards were presented for Newcomer IMPACT, Chapter Member of the Year, Next Level, Volunteer of the Year, the Mark Leblanc Award, Minnesota Speaker Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Award. The incoming board was also introduced.

The annual education luncheon and trade show of the Sacramento Sierra Nevada chapter of Meeting Professionals International brought out many fancy hats and the smaller accessories known as “fascinators,” a nod to the “Derby Days” theme. Held in the Clubhouse at the Cal Expo racetrack, the event’s bar served up mint juleps, another merry bow to the theme.
