Cannon River Winery Has New Owner

Minnesota-based winery and event venue, Cannon River Winery, has announced its acquisition by entrepreneur, Ron Stowell; co-founders, John and Maureen Maloney will be minority owners of the company.

“Cannon River Winery represents the best part of a growing preference among Minnesotans for high quality, homegrown products,” says Stowell, now the president and CEO “By increasing production, distribution and brand recognition, we plan to take John and Maureen’s original vision to the next level.”

Austin’s Palazzo Lavaca reimagined as corporate and social event venue

Looking for a new—and, frankly—incredible place to host a social event or meeting? Check out Palazzo Lavaca in Austin. It is one of the city’s oldest buildings and stands at the corner of 16th St. and Lavaca.

Giselle Koy, an Austin native and UT alum, purchased the building eight years ago. “I was so moved by this building, a true homage to Austin’s amazing past,” says Koy. “I wanted to keep that great Austin vibe and add in some of my design inspirations like the famous Palazzo Fortuny in Venice and Julian Schnabel's Palazzo in New York City.”

The Mt. Pleasant Area Convention and Visitors Bureau recently revealed the Courtyard Marriott at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. Although it opened on July 13, 2016, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was not held until Aug. 16, 2016.

After more than a year, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge announced the unveiling of its $45 million transformation, ending a three-phase renovation.

The third phase focused on renovating the 667 guestrooms to mimic the Brooklyn lifestyle, with urban-inspired color pallets, fabrics that emulate the culture and landmarks, and an art piece that zooms in on a piece of a mural that is located in the lobby.

New Venue Spotlight: The Wild Game

There is a new option for meetings and special events in Evergreen, approximately 25 minutes from downtown Denver. Evergreen residents Dave Wilson and Sean Lynch redeveloped the former BMC West property into the Evergreen Mercantile Building and also developed The Wild Game with six meeting and entertainment spaces encompassing 24,500 square feet.

Transforming downtown Los Angeles’ Cathedral of St. Vibiana, which was built in 1876, and the rectory, built in 1933, into a modern event space and performing arts venue has taken more than a decade. Now fully retrofitted, air-conditioned and modernized, with custom sound and digitally controlled lighting systems, the main hall at Vibiana and its adjacent courtyard has been the site of art openings, fashion shows, wine tastings, weddings, high-profile fundraisers and Emmy awards after-parties.
