Times Square, where a 6-ton ball covered with 2,688 Waterford Crystal Triangles drops at exactly midnight, is an iconic location for New Year’s Eve. Equally iconic is the city's offerings for year-end holiday celebrations to help guests ring in the new year in style.

“The ball drop on New Year’s Eve in Times Square is one of the world’s most iconic annual celebrations and we invite visitors and residents alike to enjoy this incredible spectacle,” says NYC & Company President and CEO Fred Dixon. “New York City is poised to welcome travelers with signature style at several key events that will ensure a memorable start to 2019.” To celebrate the incoming New Year, five New York City boroughs including Midtown, Manhattan, and beyond will be hosting events leading up to the monumental Times Square ball drop.

Starting on December 13, Times Square will feautre two 70-foot-tall numbers “1” and “9” will appear for New Year’s Eve enthusiasts to get the party started on Instagram. The Wishing Wall is also a fun activity for anyone who wants to submit a wish for the 2019 year in person at Times Square or online using the hashtag #ConfettiWish from December 1-29. Possibly Times Square’s most anticipated event, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve with Ryan Seacrest, will broadcast the ball drop and other Times Square festivities globally. The New York Marriott Marquis will also be hosting a five course dinner featuring an unlimited open bar. The hotel includes The View Restaurant and Lounge, located in the center of Times Square and providing a 360 degree view of the Times Square party as it revolves.

Manhattan, will be hosting several events as well.
