Denver Breaks Tourism Record

The city of Denver has broken its own record, earning $5.3 billion in tourism revenue in 2016. Based on the Longwoods International annual visitor profile study, Denver welcomed 31.5 million visitors (including 17.3 million overnight visitors) and is rising as a top tourism destination.

Monterey Tides Completes Renovation

In 2015, Joie de Vivre Hotels embarked on a $12 million renovation and repositioning of the beachfront property of what is now Monterey Tides in Monterey Bay, Calif. The hotel was transformed with colors, adobe texture and modern comforts, creating a coastal aesthetic.

As Monterey Bay’s only beachfront hotel, there are many seaside views. Grays, blues and pops of color were used in all public spaces, including the lobby, pool area and Bar Sebastian, and guestrooms.

ALHI Creates New Parent Company

Associated Luxury Hotels International has created a new parent company, Associated Luxury Hotels, which offers a solution for luxury-level and upper-upscale independent hotels and resorts around the globe through their current and future holdings. ALHI will focus on serving the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions marketplace for the 250 AAA Four- and Five-Diamond quality hotels it serves.

Event Bookings Show Success of PCCA's New Business Model

Four years after it met in Philadelphia, Lightfair International will again convene at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in 2017.

Lightfair is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference; it first met in Philly in 2011. The event’s return signifies the effectiveness of the convention center’s new business model.

Winter Is in the Air

All planners know the importance of looking ahead—the earlier the details fall into place, the less stress one has to deal with as the event nears.

A smattering of event venues have started holding receptions decorated for holiday parties to give planners an idea of what a holiday event would look like there and to have soirees booked far in advance. We know Christmas in July sounds crazy, but it really is a planner’s dream. With all the heat and sunshine, winter feels light-years away.
