The Glen House has been selected as the "Best Hotel in New Hampshire" by Yankee Magazine. The property, which is at the base of New Hampshire's highest peak, Mount Washington, offers panoramic views of the mountain and the Presidential Range unlike any other hotel in the state.

"We are in the heart of the White Mountain National Forrest, filled with nature and some of the best hiking in the northeast. Tuckerman’s and Wildcat are just a three-minute drive from the hotel, and they offer an amazing downhill ski experience. We are located right next to the Mount Washington Auto Road, the oldest man-made attraction in the country," says Tom Spaulding, The Glen House general manager.

With hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing available right on the property, The Glen House offers something for every adventurous heart. The Auto Road offers "self-driven" and guided tours, and in the winter, they offer a snow coach. In addition to its embrace of the great outdoors, The Glen House is also known for its sustainability.

"Sustainability is what the hotel is all about. The hotel opened at the Gold Level for sustainability with the State of New Hampshire. This is their highest level, and the hotel is the first to ever open at the top," Spaulding says.

The property, which boasts 2,500 square feet of meeting space and 68 guest rooms, includes an indoor salt water pool, fitness center and dining options at The Notch Grille and The Tavern. At The Tavern, guests will find a wide selection of craft beers, two of which are The Glen House's own private label. They also feature their own label vodka and a variety of specialty drinks.

"Being new, our focus is on growing our business and reputation. We have won numerous awards since opening," Spaulding says. These include “The Most Beautifully Design Bar in the State of New Hampshire" by Architectural Digest, Yankee Magazine Editor’s Choice Award for "Best of New England 2019,” “Editor’s Pick Award for the Best Bar in New Hampshire" by New Hampshire Magazine, and we have been nominated for the Conde Nast Traveler 2019 Readers’ Choice Award.

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. Without the daily obligation to go into the office, professionals have the ability to travel more freely. Hotels across the country are creating “work from hotel” deals–a play on “work from home”–so people can explore new places while still fitting in their 9 to 5.

Choosing a career in the event industry is not for the faint of heart. Let’s face it: Event planning is stressful. The last-minute changes, demands from clients and surmounting urgency of a quickly approaching event can make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

As a new mother, I’m right there with you and need just as much help developing a healthy work-life balance. In my experiences working in events, I’ve found the following to be helpful ways to care for my mental health, despite being in a stressful profession:

In light of COVID-19, a survey commissioned by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) discovered that 44 percent of Americans are planning leisure trips or overnight travel before the end of 2020.
