Joie de Vivre Hotels announced new personnel appointments at Hotel Becket, the brand’s new property, which opened in South Lake Tahoe. The property named Gregg Harper general manager, while Kate Brown and Warren Martineau will lead the sales and marketing team.
Laurus Corporation, a real estate investment and development firm, announced that the 285-room hotel, Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, will be rebranded and renamed.
The Former Vail Cascade Resort and Spa will reopen in early 2017 as Hotel Talisa, Vail. The name comes from the Native American word, which translates to beautiful water. The hotel honors the Southern Ute Indians, the Rocky Mountain’s original residents.
The Irvine Marriott has opened its new M Club Lounge, a semi-private space for Premier and Gold Club Members that offers guests complimentary food and beverages, free Wi-Fi and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board President & CEO Ernest Wooden Jr., Los Angeles had a record 47.3 million visitors in 2016.
This is the sixth consecutive year they have broken visitation records. The new record is 1.7 million visitors higher than 2015’s total—an increase of 3.8 percent from the previous year.
Kindred Resorts & Hotels has released the results of their survey to 64 of their properties.
“Across the board, 2017 booked business is up and the group trends we are seeing are centered around experiences and health,” says Bree Brostko, managing director. “Meeting planners are looking to break off from the traditional board room conferences and offerings and get outside, experience the destination and truly get a taste of the local culture and cuisine.”
Hilton Worldwide and North Central Group have partnered in a developmental deal to build Tru by Hilton brand hotel in Madison, Wisc. The 106-room, four-story hotel will be located next to two hotels managed by NCG.
“Today’s announcement marks an exciting chapter in the Tru by Hilton brand, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it,” says Jeff Lenz, president and chief development officer, NCG. “We’re eager to get started on bringing this innovative concept to life and new Hilton brand to the west side of Madison.”
Wailea Beach Resort-Marriott, Maui has completed its $100 million renovation and is set to reopen Dec. 24. The renovations now has six new restaurants, three new pools, and 547 redesigned rooms and suites as well as revamped meeting and event spaces, a fitness center and spa.
The Goldmoor Inn has announced Glenn Griffith as its new director of events. Griffith will all event planning at the 21-acre property based in Galena, Ill.
He brings more thanr 25 years of experience to his new role, previously serving as director of catering in hotels such as The New York Palace Hotel, The Charles Hotel at Harvard Square and Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. He also has owned his own social and corporate event planning company, Glenn Griffith Inc.
The Commons Hotel, located in Minneapolis on the University of Minnesota campus, announced their newest offering: Small Meetings = Big Rewards. The new program is a way to entice planners to hold meetings with 10–100 room nights through March 31, 2017.
