Bally’s Chicago at Medinah Temple temporary casino in River North opened its doors to the public September 9.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to Bally’s Chicago at Medinah Temple,” says Mayor Brandon Johnson. “For the first time ever in our city, Bally’s Chicago will offer the unique opportunity for gaming, entertainment, dining, and more. Thank you to the Bally’s team for its diligent work to meet and exceed all regulatory requirements in order for the casino to open its doors.”

The Bally’s Chicago’s at Medinah Temple temporary location features more than 750 slot machines and table games, three restaurants including Medinah Bistro and Kitchen 888, and a sports betting area.

The broader Bally’s Chicago project is expected to open in 2026 at the River West site at 700 W. Chicago Ave. The project is estimated to bring hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue to the City of Chicago. The permanent casino will consist of a mix of uses including a hotel, casino, theater, riverwalk, riverfront park, and more.

Gaming revenues, specifically, will go to support Chicago’s police and fire pension funds. The Chicago casino project will provide thousands of well-paying union jobs, new employment opportunities, and training programs for Chicago residents. The casino has and will continue to support utilization and participation of Chicago-based businesses.
