In summer 2027, Topography—a luxury lifestyle hospitality group established in 2021 in Chicago—will open a refined country escape set on the serene western shore of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin, 7 miles west of the city of Lake Geneva. The company also will transform 90 acres of the total 137-acre property into a nature preserve that is open to the public. When it opens, the ambitious project will reimagine the former George Williams College of Aurora University campus and its surrounding landscape as a resort encompassing chef-driven restaurants, a wellness spa, retreat center, and private members’ club. The destination is expected to become the flagship location of Topography.
“We are honored to be the next stewards of this remarkable site,” says Liam Krehbiel, CEO of Topography. “Our vision is to work hand in hand with the local community, our stakeholders, and partners to thoughtfully restore the property and create a new destination that both residents and visitors can enjoy. Through the launch of this refined country retreat, we aim to set a new standard that offers enriching experiences and a true sense of place.”
The development’s 90-acre nature preserve is intended to protect and restore the area’s natural beauty and create an inclusive and cooperative environment for the sustainable development of the region. In addition, a new trail will connect the nature preserve to the Geneva Lake shore path.
The resort will feature 68 thoughtfully designed suites, rooms, and cabins, many of which will offer sweeping views of Geneva Lake. Guests can expect refined service, immersive wellness experiences, and dining offerings that showcase seasonal, regionally sourced foods. The development also will offer opportunities to sail, stroll, and connect with the natural beauty and heritage of the area.
